Black Tea Rinse... FINALLY!

Hello all!!! Well I FINALLY did a black tea rinse. I say finally because I bought a box of black tea like 2 months ago, when I was going through postpartum shedding. Unfortunately the bum in me, would never fully prepare for my wash days ahead of time, and was always to lazy to quickly brew some tea.

Well, I am not certain whether or not I am still experiencing postpartum shedding, my edges have grown back in alright, but I am still experiencing a lot of hair coming out into my brushes, well not a lot , but more than I would like. I have been to lazy to look and see if they were long, shedded hair, or short and broken pieces.

So I cowashed and deep conditoned my hair two days ago!
Cowashed with Aussie Moist
Deep Conditioned with a mix of bananas, EVOO,& Honey....TRUTH IT IS!!!

So I thought to myself, "my hair is fairly clean, I suppose...do a tea rinse"

I boiled about 2 1/2-3 cups of water and used 3 tea bags.
I let it sit and cool off for maybe 30-40 minutes, it was still warm as I poured it on my dry hair.
I let it sit for another 30-45 minutes.
Rinsed it off in the shower, the lastly I cowashed 1x using Aussie Moist.

I felt as if I could physically feel my hair feeling stonger, but this is the first time, so I do not feel comfortable to "Review" it.

My hair never felt stiff or hard, and I was pressed for time, so I omitted the deep conditioner.\
I brushed my hair into a sock bun, and headed out of  the door.

I will try to incorporate this into my regimen every two weeks, alternating with ACV rinses.

Product Review: Scunci Evolution

Have any of you ran into these little critters??? How do I describe them??? I guess they are made out of rubber....but not like rubber bands...It is the thicker, rubber I guess....kinda like "Jellies" sandals. Anywho LOOOOOVE!!!!

They are super secure and seem to mold or fit your hair however you want them to. Like with the seamless, or ouchless, ponytail holders you would have to wrap them around for them to hold a true pony, maybe it is just my thick hair, but I can slide these babies on and without wrapping, it secures my hair. Not in a true all day ponytail style, but to hold hair to the side, while working with the other side, or even to bun it...I did not have to double it up to secure the hair.

My hair did not snag or get caught in them. When taking them out, I did not unwrap...I carefully just slid it off (I only doubled it, so it was not wrapped around too tight).
These babies are like heaven!!
I hate to give it a 5 out of 5 because, I don't really believe in perfect products, but I can say that they are definitely perfect for me and my hair, so a 5 out of 5 it has earned.

  • Fits securely
  • Does not snag
  • Affordable
  • Easy to remove
  • Does not cause breakage
  • Does not get tangled in hair.
LOOOOOOVE!

Flashback Friday

Just looking back on the beginning of my journey and now.

How do I feel about it... I feel like I trimmed waaaaayyyy to often in 2013 trying to achieve that perfect blunt shape....which I still do not have!  So I definitely believe that that played apart in my slow (appearing) progress (I have been APL FOREVER!) ...I should be BSL by now, but I shall not complain! I remember believing that it would be impossible for me to even reach APL and look at me now!!!

I hope to achieve BSL by the end of the year at least. I need to get back to using my Liquid Gold!! All of this wearing my hair straight, kinda held me up from using that as well. It's growing season for me!! But to all the newbies who may stumble across my humble little blog, please no matter the number of set backs you may have, this is not a race, just remain consistent and do what works for YOU!!! Don't let anyone convince you that they know more about your hair than you do.

One thing I kept reading, when I myself was new: "Listen to your hair. It will let you know what it needs."

GOOD LUCK BABY DOLLS!!!!

Valentine's Day Hair!!!!

So some of you may be aware that I had special plans for Valentine's Day, which also included getting my hair professionally done, as I never allow anyone to do my hair.  Soooo any I washed my hair the night before, detangled it in the shower....it turned into this:
A mess right, so I moisturized it, sealed it, and just tossed it into a bun. Well when I got to the beautician, I learned that she would be working out of her home, which to me was no problem, as long as I look equally as fabulous right???

Well being at her house, of course she had to wash my hair  in her sink....I should have just opted out of the washing, but I requested a "Silk Out", which someone explained to me as having to use certain products, so I assumed that she had to wash my hair with her products specifically for a silk out....no such thing.  I guess us country folk, refer to a "Blow Out" as a "Silk Out", because that is what I got.... but back to my rambling...I  got a bit confused/embarrased because she seemed to be having a hard time combing through it ...and so she asked "Did you not detangle it?" This was after, she had washed it in the sink...."Uhmmmm Yea, I detangled it yesterday after washing it." Of course, I did just toss it  in a bun and perhaps it  became a bit tangled by that, but also didn't I just hold my head upside down under a sink? Would that not cause it to tangle a bit?

Her attempts at detangling, was not with a wide tooth comb...I mean I know that no one will treat your hair the way that you do....but still I was a bit troubled by that....I felt like my hair was hurting :-(  I felt like....I always do, when I let others do my hair...lol "This will definitely result in a set back"
I'm just paranoid.

Also....WE (Hairlistas) know not to really manipulate the hair while it is soaking wet, beauticians of course being pressed for time just GO...so that was pretty nerve wrecking...then as it gets a bit drier, she says "The more it dries the easier it is to comb through...." NO DUHHHHHH.... but I can't say that can I?

Anywho...after the blowing out process...Which I will say...that I am not bashing the beautician at all. I realize that when I blow my own hair out, I even recieve some sort of breakage (hair on the floor)... and I just know how to manipulate my own hair...of course even better than a beautician who's first time is touching my hair...when I do it weekly!

Anyway, after that was over, the straightening part was a breeze. No complaints....well there is one, she did put some serum on my hair, for frizziness, I did not see that it said anything about thermal protection. She then suggested that I do the same, flat iron on "naked" hair so that, it will be light and flowy..... I can try to omit the moisturizer, perhaps I am a bit product heavy on my hair, maybe I can spritz with a leave in conditioner and then seal with Grapeseed oil, lightly applied, since Grapeseed oil is a heat protectant in itself.

Anywho, down to the nitty gritty...after my hair was done ...I of course had NO complaints!!!!

Hubster and I went and took  pictures outside, the wind was blowing and my hair was allll over the place, it probably wouldn't have hurt to be a bit weighed....is there such thing as too soft...it wouldn't even hold any curls!! But as I said before, I had no complaints! My last relaxer was in November, but she had me feeling like I had a fresh BONE straight perm! WOOP WOOP!

Here are a few pics from Valentine's Day <3

We took professional photos, then went to dinner, and ended the night with painting!! It was a lovely day if I must say so! I am soooo late writing this post, but thanks for reading anyway :-*

HeatLESS Curls!

Soooo apparently I suck! No updates what so ever...BUT I kinda have a good reason :-)
I was enjoying my hair...for pretty much the entire month of Feburary, my hair was straight...when it is straightened, I do very little to it....no washing of course, and very minimal product usage.

I was however beginning to become bored with my hair, as it is either in a braid out or bone straight.
I do not know how to roller set my hair so it is rarely left with any body, when straight. Any who upon searching on Youtube, I learned how to achieve some sexy heat less curls using flexi rods!

I was in hair heaven!!! I re-rolled the curls each night, it was really easy, and most times I did not comb through, finger combing was enough. Anywho, I could have kept it going for ever, but uhhh eventually I had to wash my hair.... and when I did...

It went from this:... to this:.... but that is a whoooole nother post :-)

Hair Blah!!!

I really need to step my game up in the hair department.  My hair "care" has dropped to hair maintenence. In a nutshell I pretty much, cowash and DC weekly. I am sure that I throw in moisture in there as needed and seal, as well as oil the scalp.

But what about the extra stuff:

ACV rinses
Tea rinses
Baggying
Vitamins
GHE'ing and all the sorts.

I mean I do have children so condensing it all is very resonable, but what about the health of my hair opposed to just growing hair? Sure I want long hair, but I want HEALTHY hair!

With that being said, I am making Feburary count!

For Valentine's Day I am getting a Hydrating Steam Treatment and Silk out because my hunny loves my hair straight. I will be sure to note how my hair reacts to the steam treatment as I am up in the air on whether to buy one or not.

I am horrible at taking pills, but I found some chewable Biotin and I think that will be more convenient and aid in my consistency of  taking them. I usually get choked up on pills, or hate having to swallow them, it's complicated. I am hoping for great results with the chew tabs.

Sometime this month I plan on implementing the Inversion Method. I know I have said this before, but I never seem to finish through. I have devised a plan that will hopefully aid in me being able to keep up with the plan.

I also plan to blog more. IDK why, I guess because I am hair lazy and don't do anything special, I rarely have things to blog about but that will change today. I will post every Thursday.

Well here is to getting it together! Any special plans for Valentine's Day, special Hair styles??? SPILL IT ALL HERE!
